a co-captain's job
I think you can set it up to give your co-captain what responsibilities you wish, jugan. I'm one, and I mostly set up matches; I don't think I can bring new people in to the team or dismiss them without the captain's ok...... Clark

a co-captains duties
I´m self co-captain. It´s right what ironbutterfly said, a co-captain can´t approve new members or kick members out from the team. He can´t change the teams home page either! A co-captain can however help the captain with setting up team matches and writing reports about the results of the team matches!

As a captain, and previous co-captain you nailed it. Best thing to do as a co-captain, is take some of the weight of the captain. If you do team tournaments, you run them. Do game write ups Set up matches. Get the team to be social. Annotate a good game and share it Send out a weekly or monthly puzzle. Manage team questions etc. Whatever you do, it will be greatly appreciated by your captain, and make your team stronger. Great question CaptRook

Yeah...
I would greatly appreciate a co-captain right now that I don't have one. I can usually cover all of my basic duties adequately, but I think the responsibility is just terrible; having someone who could cover me in the case of an emergency would give me so much room to play. Now the entire 65+ member team pretty much depends on me, and I have no hope being able to organize any intra-team stuff, such as team tournaments, game annotations or reports of team match results. Regards, MaCa.

Good answers
For my part, the co-captain on my team has helped to halve the burden at least. I now feel able to take extended breaks safe in the knowledge that my team members will have games set up for them. Steve Jumpy Horse
