Recruiting strong players
I have just started my new team "CHESS IS WAR"
I am doing pretty good considering I have 8 members already.

The one thing I am having trouble with is recruiting players who are 1800 or higher.

It's kind of foolish for me...being 1350 asking a strong 1850 to join my team.
Out of 20 people I ask I get 2 who respond saying no thanks. The other 18 don't respond at all.

I want a team that has players from 1100 to 1900.

Any suggestions?

Strong Players
It really makes no difference if the players are strong or not. They get matched against players of around their own rating. In fact, it is better to get a lower rated player who is improving in another year or so they may be much higher rated with many team wins under their belt. It is also a lot easier to get matches for the lower rated players, since there are far more lower rated players than higher.

Ya...but...
Ya...but...it's nice to have a strong player to look at the games and tell us what we didn't see.
In my team forum we have a 1600 who posted a game to analyze and me...a 1350...was the only one who tried...it wasn't pretty.

I agree
With lawarner it takes me at least 3-4 days to get a team challenge for my 2000+ team members to where my 12's 13's or 14's it only takes minutes to make a challenge for them. Cheers Eddie

That would be nice
But I also wouldn't count on the highest rated players to analyze your lower rated players games. It is nice if it happens.

The best way to improve your game is to analyze your own game. It will be your most understandable analysis because it is at a level you can understand.

Of course, that is just my opinion.

One idea to help develop your lower ranked players is to set up an informal team tournament. It needs to be run as unrated games. Unfortunately GK doesn't have this option so you need to manage the games yourself.

The idea is to play an unrated game and you discuss in the comments a running game analysis where each player comments on what they are trying to do and what they think the other player is doing.

Note: They have to be unrated games otherwise you risk violating GK rules by discussing active games. I've played a few games like that and found I learned a lot from them.
