Big team challenge!
It seems to be quite difficult to organise a full 11 player versus 11 player challenge, but I think it would be a whole lot of fun. Anyone got any ideas on how we could do it to make it easier. It seems difficult to organise in the fly and may need some more prep time then normal challenges.

Any thoughts?

Perhaps we could bounce some player groups here and agree on a challenge. Once that is organised we could just wait until the players in that list become available and then go ahead with the challenge.

I would suggest that paying players be used to ensure availability windows are larger, and that if a challenge is agreed to on here, then that gets comminucated to co-captains and captains in order to make the process smooth.

Anyone else think this would be fun?

Such matches are nice, yes. 11 vs. 11 is not the limit though:

Sounds good. I have been flat chat for a couple of days, but I will have some time in a day or two. I am going to see if I can start clearing a few players for availability, so hopefully I will have a few ready by the weekend   I will tee up a time on here once I get my schedule sorted.

I've had some bigger challenges
but most of the time only after a period in which i was lazy (or very busy outside GK ) so i had a lot of free players.

We have a couple going now, which I will update the team on soon, they seem to like the idea. Not huge ones though. Does anyone know the actual limit?

it looks like you can only set up 10 players in a open challenge. i have set up challenges with kingknot and we have matched challenges from 2 to 15 players. i think you can set up as many as each team can match.

A Mega Match is not likely
I tried for two weeks to set up a 10 game challenge (which btw, is the max amount of players G/K will accept for open challenges), but their stupid automated program kept cancelling each and every match because it thought that the players in the match had not logged in for over two days. I had to send this message to my team mates:

GameKnot has an automated program that checks the members in every challenge and looks to see if they've gone over 48 hours since their last log-in. You must be the 8th team member to be caught by their stupid program! It automatically cancels any challenge if it thinks a member hasn't logged in within the past 48 hours.

I've complained to them when 5 other members claimed that they logged in before 48 hours was up and they sent me a copy of their log-in sheets. G/K officials sent me a different log-in sheet that showed they missed the deadline by 1-2 hours. All I can say is if you think they are wrong and/or their program should be changed then you should send a complaint to them.

To send a complaint you have to:
* click on MORE OPTIONS
* click on Site map
* scroll down and click on 'contact us'
* when the box appears enter the subject and click on 'submit'
* then scroll to the bottom of the next screen and click on 'contact us' or 'send email', something like that and you will be given a larger box to write your complaint in. Then you have to submit that.

Needless to say, they make it very difficult to contact them.

BTW, I've given up on the Mega Match. I broke it down into 3 smaller challenges. BUT!!! G/K only allows me to enter ONE challenge at a time - and that one has to be accepted before I can enter a 2nd challenge.
Yeah, this place runs in the Dark Ages.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I encourage all team captains to make a request to the administrators that:

1) they change their automated program from cancelling team challenges from a log-in of 2 days to 3 days

2) they allow team captains to put more than ONE challenge up at a time! We should be allowed at least 3 separate challenges.

3) they start a Team Championship for each year which every team can enter - and the problem of different ratings can be handled by creating rating groups to play in.

If G/K doesn't start making changes then they will lose a lot of members. Several other sites already have these features in place - not to mention that on redhotpawn.com when you receive a team challenge you can go in and modify it. The program will bring up the current team member's names and ratings and you can swap the members to your liking.

Like I said, G/K is using old technology and living in the dark ages!
Please help them improve this site by sending them email!

This complaint
Just makes me think you don't completely understand how it works. Those open challenges are pretty useless for actually making a match - you can only show other teams that your team has those players available. It's unlikely any team has a precise match, but according to such a posted list of players they might challenge you to a smaller team match

big challenge
i set up a lot of big challenges with some of the other teams and a lot of times i can match 10 players in the open challenges. check out my team page and if you can find 10 players on my team that are open for matches and we can match ratings i will be happy to set up a match. just send me a challenge.

thanks dbf1

Big challenge mega match 10 vs 10
Yes we can have team match for 10 players only at present my team is playing 10 vs 10 with two teams, one with CFF and scotland forever, I appreciate the captains who accepted my challenge, 2 mega matches, lets see the results.
Secondly i do agree we should have atleast 3 open challenges in order to sort out 3 players match with different ratings, I think with this we can save lot of time.

Thanks for the input dbf1 and kapishagarwal.
Heinzkat's remark was useless and apparently he doesn't understand how to have a 10 game team match, only smaller ones.

The England side
This is the 3rd year the England side has been operating. We used to have several big matches in our first year. We often tried to get at least 10 a side - to make it like a football match! I would arrange with another captain for the match to start in a month or two's time and then not play any team games until then. At times we would play 2 or 3 matches with the same team, using the different time limits to involve as many as possible. They were fun. However I worked out that to maintain a high position in the team ladder etc, it was better to have many smaller matches going on rather than fewer big matches, otherwise you tended to drift down the ladder in the period when you were not starting team matches.

Big Match
We're always open to big matches.

But some of our top players will only play 5 days/move.

No Problem
No Problem - what I have done with some teams, is to have two or three different matches with the same team, starting round about the same time, so that players of all speeds can be accommodated.

This might help .
The fighting warriors we have the following available .

4 player's at 1600 +
4 player's at 1500 +
8 player's at 1400 +
8 player's at 1300 +
6 player's at 1100 +

If you guys ever need big challenges at 3 days per move Just let me know , I always have a bunch of player's in these rating ranges available .

I will make every effort to ensure it's close and fair for both Teams

this way you guys have something concrete to look at rather than going fishing .

Best wishes
