Playing chess on other sites?
I am tempted to play chess on other sites, as well as Gameknot. Have any players played on other sites? If so what did you think of them? "

I have just started using chesstempo.com It has a tactics section to pick the best move, good for someone at my level, but would prob bore you! It may have difficulty setting though. There is also a blitz section, there seem to be some pretty high rated players on the site.

For free real time chess I used to play on Pogo.com. The interface is far better than yahoo and other free sites. There are numerous time options for setting games, lightning chess up to a leisurely game. Rated or unrated. You can have the game history sent to your email address etc.
Pogo allows you to have more than one name, you can save buddies in a list, you can watch other people playing in real time, you can chat while you watch or play all in real time. Plus you can play people of all kinds of ratings, not limited to your own strength.

One caveat, young trash talking cheaters (proggers) abound. Pretty awesome site if you avoid the proggers.

Give it a try. BTW If you have trouble getting into a chess room there turn off your popup blocker and upgrade your Java . Oh, and they also have many other games. While you can pay for extra benefits there there are free versions of most everything.
