Nothing has changed--Ne7

move 16...Ne7
I agree with penndan. Let's kick the knight out and prepare to get our h rook over to support the queenside assault.

move 16
I'm ok with ......Ne7, though I think I like .....b5 at least as well. It kicks
back his B and gives us more space on the Q-side, if our strategy is to perhaps
eventually attack there.

me too - Ne7

Move 16 vote
I know I haven't participated in this game for awhile. However, after reading the suggestions, I also vote for Ne7. I would like for O-O-O to be examined and considered as the next move, though. b5 would compromise the integrity of a future queenside castle.

I recommend that we now strongly consider a queenside castle.

Move 17
I like Ng6---isn't his pwn on h4 ripe for the taking? I see no pressing need to castle yet if at all.

move 17
I need more time to study the position, but at the moment I like both .....0-0-0 and Ng6.

O-O-O Reasoning and Justification
My main reasons and justification for the queenside castle are (1) we may not get an opportunity to castle again, especially if we lose the tempo and (2) given the fact that hbird has already castled queenside, he would have an advantage should we not castle. Obviously, a kingside castle would prove to be disadvantageous given the fact that the castle's integrity would be severely compromised by the absence of the g pawn from its second (row 7) rank.

move 17
My choice is .....Ng6, keeping open the option of a later .....0-0-0.
johnclark
20-Jul-09, 21:39

17...Ng6
Our weak pawn is f4. 17...Ng6 covers it and provides the option of a future ...0-0 or ...Ke7. As long as we can block his center pawns and protect our f4 pawn, I think we are in good shape.

Move 17. Vote . . . Ng6
After reassessing the situation, my vote is now for Ng6 as it allows for the attack of h4 and protects f4.

I suggest we move Bg4 to prevent his Knight moving to e2 and getting 4 pieces on our pwn on f4. It should also limit his options---I think----

Kingside pawn assault!?
If we are going to do a pawn assault on his castle, I think we need our light squared bishop on d7 to support it. I suggest not castling but starting our assault with 18...c6 followed with ...b5. Bird has lined his pieces up against our week pawn on f4. Castling at this point will lose a tempo. I also think that our king will be better protected on e7 rather than g8.

I suggest 18...c6 and going forward with the attack.
