Kh8If Rg3, Qf7. Now, Qh6 is not very dangerous, after Rg8. (Or even Rh5, since it is defended by our queen, then if Rg7. QxR, QxRh5, and Rg8, pointing to g2). So this is my vote. |

Bc8ps: hi, i'm new here |

if you want adventurouis then look at a5 to prevent whites pawns advancing on that side |
||||||||||||||

Wait...go c5 right now, since the Knight on f3 is defended by the rook. Anyway, let's give a deep look before we give up this value. |

Both have some defects.. Qf8 unprotect h7 and the 7° row. Also private the rook and itself from many moves, but it does protect Qh6 and also have a sort of possible attack on the diagonal as Bigpeta said. Qc7 unprotect Qh6, and it may make possible an attack against the 8°row (in e8), but it gaves more freedom to the queen and to the rook, and it does protects h7 and that row. Seems to be a little bit more active, and also a more dangerous.. I would play Qf8 as bigpeta. (Qh6 seems to be too much for Qc7..) |

Bd7eg Rh5 would make a nice threat down to whites K. also the R & Q on the back rank would have more room to manoeuvre |

what left?play.. too passive. Rb8 fails -> Rxd5, "c" or "e" xd5, Ne5 and we can't take it because of Qxe5+ (and mate in one). i don't have ideas.. seems that we should play again Re8 because of that trick to defend.. T_T |

why Rc8 |

dmaestro 18-Nov-11, 05:06 |
divided and weak, our king is more exposed, and our bishop is bad. White will win in part because only the most patient defense might draw and black has no winning chances unless there is a huge blunder. ...Re8 seems best now. |
||||||||||||||
|
Main plan? Draw?Somehow we should try to exchange our Rc8 for the Rg3, and let him take our Rd5 and we take back with c pawn, so we could have chances in a pawn final. |

Hi, club!Just thinking in a way to improve the position (assuming certain moves for white, of course): 30. b4 Rxc5 31. dxc5 Rb8 32. a3 a5 33. bxa5 Rb5 And the pawn could be recovered in what seems to be a better position. And if white takes with the b pawn: 30. b4 Rxc5 31. bxc5 Rb8 The rook has better position anyway. May this ideas help? |

Re7The obvious threat by white lies on the control it has of the g column. So we have to fight to stop that control, and the only way I see is trying to exchange our 8 rook with the g3 one. The move I suggest has that plan behind it. If white goes RxR, cxd5 (and not exd5), if Ne5, cxN, Qxe5, Rg7, RxR, QxR, Qb8+, Qg8, Qxa7, Qg5, and white cannot take QxB because of the perpetual check we can give white. Note that despite the bishop, we will have to struggle to exchange it for the two white pawns... and I am not sure we can. Of course white doesn't have to go for the sacrifice. After RxR, cxRd5, White has to taking into account Rg7 by black, forcing the exchange RxR, KxR!, and white has to lose a tempo defending b4, so he may well do it now. Say: a3, Rg7. RxR, KxR, and everything seems to hold. A better white`s option is to answer to Re7, b5, with the idea: cxb5. RxR, exRd5, and our pawns are all scattered. ...but we can go: b4, RxR. dxR, c6xb4, and our position improves considerabily. Other white's options doesn't seem to give him more, but maybe I am wrong. |
