cuilinthis is just to repeat my little introduction so it doesn't get lost in the vote chess thread: I'm Torben from Northern Germany, professional musician, experienced both in otb play (FIDE rated 2070) and teaching. Pete and I got to know each other on another chess site, where we discovered our shared love for the English opening. Hence I agreed to help out teaching in a group similar to this one. Last summer we even had the opportunity to meet each other in person when I travelled in Scotland. Apart from the English, I have been playing 1.e4 and 1.Nf3 a lot, but wasn't really satisfied with my attempts at 1.d4, which seems to be the top players' choice these days. At least I seem to be doing fine against it My approach to chess is quite concrete, as in my view there is a surprisingly large number of positionally desirable moves which need a tactical justification in practical play. Feel free to contact me about tactics, game analysis or opening theory. As I am travelling quite a bit my answer may take some time, but on other occasions I may find plenty of time to invest in analysis Best wishes, Torben |

thanksI too am travelling but very slowly on two legs as I train for the London Marathon (my last if I have any sense) so am looking forward to putting a bit of thought into what you have to say after I return from 23 km run this morning! It is kind of both you and Pete to put so much time into trying to impart your knowledge to us. |
