If you go g4+ then you are not guaranteed a check mate. This way it is checkmate no matter what he does.

3. Qxf7+ g6
4. g4+ Kh4
5. Qe7+ g5
6. Qe1#

OR

2. Qe8+ Qg6
3. g4+ Kh4
4. Qxg6 d4
5. f5 Rxf5
6. Qxf5 d3
7. Qh5#

If

2. g4+ Kg6
3. gxf5+ Kxf5
the king then escapes so it will be harder to checkmate.

I found
the problem with moving to g4+ to early gave Black an escape route

@kingofchess12345 , you are right about it being harder to checkmate , but take a look @ your
2nd option

the reason black doesn't move her Queen to g6 is
2.Qe8+ Qg6
3.g4+ Kh4
4.Qe1#,
a quicker defeat for black
