Alekhine's Gunen.wikipedia.org It showed up in two high level games in 1930 and 1936. One was when World Chess Champion, Alexander Alekhine, used it against a grandmaster, and then 6 years later, when he used it again to defeat another grandmaster. This particular puzzle shows an obvious use of the gun to win a game, but don't discount it as too obvious if two grandmasters bit the bullet. Nowadays, most expert level players can see when an opponent is trying to set up a gun and disrupt that tactic before it occurs. |
