This type of mate in three I always find to be highly enjoyable

At first I thought of 1.Be5, but there's no threat. It would be nice if White could move 1.Qe5, but there's no time to set it up..

It turns out to be a zugzwang position, and watching the solution unfold is a revelation. I particularly enjoyed how 1...h5 turn into a line obstruction.

a4
If I'm not mistaken:

1.a4 - ta6,tg8,ta8, any movement of any tower and the queen threatens both.

In fact 1.a4 is rejected by the puzzle but I'm not entirely sure why? I settled on the simple waiting move of 1.Kh1 & that was accepted without any difficulty but Black's Zugzwang seems just as much a problem if 1.a4 is played. I can't immediately see the defence against it?
But I love the way that the queen is able to attack both rooks, regardless of where they move & then one of them has to be taken giving mate, or mate with Ra7 or Rb8. Very stylish puzzle.

If 1.a4 Rg8 2.Qd5 Rxg2+! Putting the king on h1 stops the check.

"If 1.a4 Rg8 2.Qd5 Rxg2+! Putting the king on h1 stops the check" - ah yes of course, thanks for clearing that up
