Easy puzzleI think of easy puzzles as tactics training exercises, much like the puzzles in Laszlo Polgar's book of combinations. I don't mind whether such puzzles begin with checks. For specialists in composed puzzles, the more advanced puzzles will always be more satisfying. I liked this one better than many we've seen because it was optically attractive. However, to say that because 8% didn't solve the puzzle it's not too easy doesn't make sense. Even in positions where there's only one legal move there's not a 100% solve rate. This was pretty easy, but it wasn't a back-rank mate or a Philidor's mate, so I gave it two stars. Difficulty: 2 Stars Aesthetics: 1.5 Stars |
