The problem with this is what do you play after 1.... Rb2????

That's called stalemate! Incidentally I don't think pre school children could solve this. If you on't like the puzzles go and do something else.

Laugh at black for being a total idiot.

And they complain again!
Why are there always so many complaints about the chess problems. So many people seem to say "Too easy" which is really their way of telling everyone "I'm really clever".

Or in the hard section, usually "ridiculous problem, not a real position, what's the point of all this."

If you don't like the chess problems, go and do something else...

The reason so many people complain is that some people just want something to complain about, and some easy puzzles are the only thing they can find to complain about.

what about free speech?
This is a discussion page, what is the point of having this page if you are going to attack someones opinion and tell them they are not welcome? This problem only serves one purpose and that is to remind us to be aware of the stalemate. Not much of a problem at all.

Well, I'm exercising my free speech by telling people not to complain all the time...

The point of the discussion page? Well, perhaps to discuss chess themes, similar problems, other possibilities, tactical insights, methods for solving, etc.

Alternatively, you can have a whinge about the problem in the "Easy" section being too easy. Well, that's really clever. So glad our ancestors all fought for our rights to free speech so we can sit around complaining about people who actually make an effort like the puzzle composers. Cheers all round...

OK to complain
as long as they agree with tokyonotora2001. One of the problems with this page is the only way to see it is to make a comment. Maybe that could be changed so when you solve the puzzle you are given the option to be notified when comments are made. That should improve the quality of the comments since it removes the obligation to make one. We all don't live in a place where freedom of speech is permitted so here at least let's honor it.

Let's not make it too serious, what tokyonotora2001 said was actually quite funny and also holds some truth.

yes kingdawar,
but it doesn't pertain to the chess puzzle. Those that complain about the puzzle may make the person picking the problems to rethink there standards. I have no problem with disagreeing with someone but make an argument about the puzzle and not the individual or we might as well talk about religion or politics. That is a scary thought.

i think when someone says something bad a about a puzzle means that they failed it.

Thank you. There have been lots of times I made comments just so I could listen to others. I think you will see I will be a lot more quiet from now. I think on occasion I have made worth while comments.

Suppose I better stick my oar in.

I would say that this puzzle is easy. However I have been playing chess for years (not that well though). I do notice that the puzzle was not easy for the 23% who did not solve it correctly. Considering that the people from novice to seasoned pro will view the TWO puzzles it seems logical that what ever standard of puzzle is chosen the majority could say it is the wrong level for them.

I would just also add that the puzzles are FREE and therefor we should all appreciate that effort has been made by individuals to compose and/or post puzzles taking up their own time for others enjoyment.

It would be interesting to know just for curiosity sake, how many people who complain about too easy puzzles have actually taken the time to compose a more suitable puzzle of their own?

Is it possible to give a puzzle 0 stars?
I'm not saying this "puzzle" doesn't have a right to exist. Just that it deserves 0 stars for creativity and 0 stars for difficulty.

Very true.

fezzik,
Yes, it was easy, but still it deserves at least 1 star to help stalemate avoidance.
