Meaning there are limited checking options, and black has so much attacking power you know it's you're only option.

i agree with jrums14. on the other hand, i'm sure that if i was in this position in a real game, i would resign without thinking. no wonder the book is called "100 desperate positions"! if anyone knows where i can get it online, please let me know!

According with www.yacpdb.org, only the author(Philip Stamma) is correct. Both publications and years are different.
