not so easy!
In my mind the solution had to begin with a knight check, followed by some queen move - mate. I was even looking for N somewhere check, Black goes Kf8 and then Nh7 mate. For obvious geometric reasons, this was not possible. It took me quite some time to find to find the very straight forward solution, Ne5 followed by Nxd7.

Same here. Oddly, I think this would have been easier had the d7 square been empty.

It seems obvious to check this way in any sensible game

it would have been easier ofc because everybody would have played 1.Ne5+ Kf8 2. Qf7# instead of mating with the knight
i know what you mean though ^^

Somehow we all have different talents for different patterns. I solved this one very quickly, just by visualisation. I was a little surprised at first to read that relatively high rated players found it not so easy, but they will probably solve other puzzles more quickly than me

In this case it looks quite obvious to me that the first move will be a discovered check (either single or double) by playing the knight on g6. In all 6 cases the king is forced to f8. That is also pretty obvious. Now it is just matter of determining which of the resulting positions is a mate in one ...

No Q sack!
I was convinced the first move had to be Qf3 as this provided the only logical Queen sack...
Quite refreshing to have an easy puzzle that requires some thought process of a real game.

The only logical queen sacrifice? After Qf3 the knight takes it with check ... how can that be logical in 2-move puzzle?

a first for everything
That must be the first time I solved a puzzle quickly and easily, only to read that players that are way my superior needed more time. Meanwhile I've never solved any of the "hard" puzzles successfully.

a good one
Easy but not simple. For the mediocre players like me, it takes a little thought. Very good puzzle.

91% Solve rate?
Yes, this was pretty easy. Move one is a double-check discovered attack. Move two is taking the Queen with mate.

I always find it fascinating how different players have different strengths and weaknesses. I am definitely sub-mediocre yet found this one really easy. Of course, "mate in two" is rather like a sprint, while earning an 1800 -2000+ rating requires having marathon stamina as well. Also, I think many of us weaker players just don't see the dangers and possibilities you better ones do. Fools rush in where . . .

Very Easy. Find and attack the defender of the King and move with check to attack the defender!
