Very nice puzze for this section
Not too easy and not too hard. Black can accept or reject the rook offer, and after whites second move again black has 2 possible answers (in both variations). So it is not that the solution just simply unfolds

nice
my initial instinct was Qf7 but this allows black a mate in 2. Its a nice thought through puzzle

Puzzle 6541
Very nice puzzle. I don't think an alternative solution is possible.

I went for...
..Qf7 first too, before I realised that Black's position probably called for continuous check from the first move. Good puzzle.

I liked this!
The hard mate to see was after 1...Kg5. I liked that there were two distinct mating patterns to find.

Gusev-Khatchaturov
Gusev faced Khatchaturov in the 1959 Moscow Chess Club championships. I don't have a game score for that event though.

As far as I can tell, Khatchaturov didn't play in the USSR Championships that year, so it was most likely from the Moscow CC championships.
