Got this by looking at Black's possible moves, thinking of possible replies for White, then deciding where White's pieces needed to make those replies possible. Some nice mates in there.

it was a good plan, but white could of played the much quicker Qe2 because the rook doesnt have to capture the knight and so the play here really would of been 3 moves to checkmate and not two

After checking that the knight moves don't work, and that capturing the rook leads to stalemate, I realized the queen must guard c3 in case of Rxc3+. That left only four moves to check.

... that is the meaning of 'mate in 2'. If you have any path in which Black can continue this game for 3 moves, please share. I can't see any (in fact, I can see that there can not be any).
