Title gives it away
Not that it is hard in the first place, but that title just makes it too easy.

There is no need to castle. 3 Kf1 is sufficient for checkmate. I miss that move as a solution.

Yeah, castling is optional.

I just think: in what case a quite ordinary situation played off can be considered and shown up as a puzzle?

The simplicity
Please do not disregard this kind of puzzles. Begginers must learn chess too.

The puzzle is nice, and mating by castle is always great, but giving it away in the title?

The title (again)
A real dummy would start (inspired on the title) with 1.O-O-O, which, for curiosity, is the solution of the other today's problem

I appreciate the titles/descriptions.
But I never read them BEFORE I solve the puzzle... unless I want a possible hint. If you don't like hints, easy fix: read the description after.

Castling choice
I like castling mates when one only have that move. When you are able to castle OR do simply the rook move, for me is a little loss of quality in the artistic point of view.
But it still being great.

Castling lesson
I thought the title was more like black should have castled king side at an earlier opportunity to avoid this position. Hum.

Great Puzzle..
Always tough for me to give up/loose my queen, used to think it is the end but learned from the puzzles that it can be part of the strategy. Still tough though, Thanks for the good puzzles!

spectrachess, you never trade queen for queen and rook in games? It's not like the move is bad even if it wouldn't come a mate in three.

I do, but usually go to a greater length to save my queen and rooks, which might not always have been necessary. Perhaps changing this will let me improve my game.
