Since it's clear that the action starts with a check, further on it becomes a trivial matter

UGLY UGLY
I absolutely hated this puzzle.

The first two moves by Black just throw away material to prolong the mate. There was nothing attractive about this except for 5.Nf8, and even that was dead easy to see.

The description isn't really needed here... The knight's involvement comes naturally from 1. Qd3, and seeing it for themselves probably gives more satisfaction to the solver. Otherwise its a good exercise.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - and for someone who has not seen this type of puzzle before it is an encouragement to seek the check, not take the rook which is the obvious move in this position, especially as white is down on material. Since this is an easy puzzle we can assume that it is aimed at beginner players and notably 15% of people did not solve it.

Finally, if I'd concocted this little mate in a real game when I was 6 points down I'd think it was a beautiful end to the game . . .

Taking the rook would be be very bad in this situation. After QxRb2, black can follow with Qe1+, forcing white to play Kg2, which leads to BxBd5+, white will lose its Queen.
