I am completely baffled by king takes bishop. Why not rook takes bishop then pawn takes queen?

If RxB the pawn can't take the queen because it's pinned. But if RxB this works.

2. Rxg3 Re2+
3. Kg1 Re1+
4. Kh2 Re8e2+
5. Rg2 Rxg2+
6. Kxg2 gxf6
