![]() I was the chair of mathematics in Arizona for High School. I majored in pre-medicine and ended up in the Army after going to seminary. What a ride it was. I took over the mathematics chair back in 2002. Incredibly I remembered my math background (and physics and chemistry (inorganic and organic) as well as biology. I ran two marathons. One in 1978 and another in 2001 (the former in California and the latter in Arizona. Both of my hips are totally replaced with titanium and I can't really run anymore. You are older than I am. I suppose a trivia question is in order for both of us. Who do you think was the greatest voice in the 1960s (hint: a woman for me)? Grace Slick of the Jefferson Airplane! Thank you for responding and making this place feel more at home for me. Often chess becomes so competitive with egos. I have no ego. In the Army I was a chaplain. John |

![]() No military service and no seminary, but I am a born-again Christian. If I had to pick the singer with the greatest voice in the 60's, I would have to say Barbara Streisand. She is not my favorite, but no one can match her voice. |

![]() Today others have come and gone. Neil Diamond is still around and he is good. I saw him at a concert in St. Louis some years back live singing the songs he made in the 70s. Streisand has a big nose and close set eyes. Her voice is good but not as much as Karen Carpenter. Or Stevie Nicks. |
