What is wrong with the simple 1. f8(Q)+ QXf8 2. BXf8 c2 3. BXh6 c1(Q) 4. Rf8 #

O.k. I see whats wrong: 1. f8(Q)+ QXf8 2. BXf8 Ng3 3. BXh6 Nf5 and white mates in 5 not 4.

Good problem.

Dat Knight
The knight's sole purpose is to prevent a mate in 4 as described above. Truly beautiful.

The Puzzle
This puzzle is good; however, it assumes too much what the opponent is going to move when there are many options in this example.

Shivrudra is wrong; first check does not mate in 4.
Elreydeajedres is wrong too; there is only one way to mate in 4 and its the unique solution.
Not many options ! Just one with 1. Rg4!! 2. Ka3 3. Bd4!! super composition. Think it over ...

I see what you are saying iberville, but I am not necessarily talking about how long it takes to mate. I am talking about the lack of consideration for the other options black has.

@elreydeajedres
It is a weakness of the Gameknot machine that it gives you full credit for solving if you get just one variation. A better platform would make you find all significant variations before crediting the problem as solved.
