chess history

This problem amounts to Al-Adli sometime about 840 AD. He wrote " Kitab ash-shatranj ", a comprehensive book dealing with chess. The manuscript was lost but citations appear in books written by Al-Adli's successors, namely by Ar-Razi ("Al-lutf fy ash-shatranj ": elegance in Chess) who defeated Al-Adli in 848 AD.

Thank you for your comments.
Apparently, Al Aldi was the author of the first known chess book. But the puzzle itself seems is to be credited to Abu Naim al-Khadim.
