There's nothing stopping the the Queen from been captured.
Depending on Black's move order it's possible to have double rooks on h-file or g-file.
Picking up the odd loose pawn and a hanging LSB just to keep things sharp.

(I dont think we are going to agree)

Some of the moves are Tactics, some of the moves are your own suggestions and some are my own responding to both.

1...Qg5 (Gameknot Tactics)
2.Rg4 (my suggestion/prefered solution) Qf5 (limine suggestion)
3.Qxf5(my suggestion in response to limine) gxf5(limine suggestion defending Queen)

(a) 4 Rg5 threatens f5 pawn
(b) 4 Rh4 double rooks, limine suggests f6 as refuting. I believe 5. Bh5 and a further Bg6 will close that escape square.

f7-f6 was just mentionned as solution to the immediate treat of the doubled rooks

GK
1 ... Qg5
2 Rg4 Qxg4

This last move is wrong according to me
2 Rg4 also makes no sense and I would more likely play the immediate 2 Rh4

1 ... Qg5
2 Rg4 Qf5
3 QxQ gxQ

then if 4 Rg5 threatens f pawn ... really simply met by g6
and if 4 Rh4 also met by g6 I see no more threats

1. ... Qg5
2. Rg4 Qf5
3. Qxf5 gxf5
4. Rgh4 g6
5. Rh8+ Kg7
6. R3h7+ Kf6

the immediate 2 Rh4 also makes more sense to me

1 ... Qg5
2 Rh4 but is then meated by f6

conclusion I still don't get why black takes the rook in the GK solution

If Black try to keep his queen, it will be forced to f6, where it blocks the f7-f6, and mate Rh8 will be inevitable:
1 ... Qg5
2. Rg4 Qf5
3. e4 dxe4
4. Ne3 Qe6
5. Bc4 Qf6
6. Rgh4

Here, Black doesn't have any escape from losing it's queen (6... Q:h4 is the only escape from mate on h8, since now the queen blocks the escape at f7-f6), and in worst position, since White Knight/Bishop are better placed.
