White threatens mate with Qe7+, Kc8, and Qc7# so he doesn't want to lose with
2. Kb2 Qd2+ 3. Ka3 Qc3+ 4. Ka2 Nb3+ 5. Kb1 Qc1#

or draw with
2. Kb2 Qd2+ 3. Kb1 Qd1+ 4. Kb2 Qd2+ 5. Kb1 Qd1+ 6. Kb2 Qd2+ 7. Kb1 Qd1+

I think with Kb3 there is no way for white to draw, i think black can win always after Kb2

After Kb2, Qxa1+,
If 1. Kxa1, Nc4+ 2. Kb1, Nd2+ and 3..... ; Nxe4 with a rook ahead
If 1. Kc2, Qa2+ then...
if king moves in the c column i trade queens with Qc4+
if the king moves to the d column i trade queens with Qd5+
both with a rook ahead

i agree, im sorry.
I get confused as in spanish we said to:
Ranks > filas
Files > columnas
You can see the similar between files and filas.

Hola Héctor, Sí, por supuesto, es que la expresión todavía se utiliza. También se para 1968 ya han estado en uso. Pero es un país peligroso para el tráfico de drogas y para los ciclistas. Mi amigo Frank van Rijn ha completado un ciclo a través de México, pero el tráfico motorizado no tiene en cuenta a los ciclistas. Atentamente, Kor

The point of 2. Kc2 instead of 2. Kb2 is to prevent 2. Kb2 Qd2+, leaving white with no safe place for the king. 2. Kc2 Qxa1 won't work because of 3. Qe7+ Kc8 4.Qc7#. After 2. .. Qe2+ 3. Kc3 black is left without any good checks. Black's best line is to trade queens, leading to a won endgame for white after 3. .. Qc4+. 4. Qxc4 Nxc4 5. Rxa6 bxa6 6. Kxc4 up a bishop with a protected passed d-pawn the black king must hang around, allowing the white king to eat the black a- and c-pawns. This leaves black's best chance as 5 .. Nxd6, down a full rook.

Our whole discussion was what if 2. Kb2?
After that move, white loses with 2. Kb2 Qxa1+

I see your point hector, but if black can draw, it doesn't matter if black can win: 2. Kc2 is better than 2. Kb2. That's all you need to know to solve the problem. I'm also looking at 2. Kb2 Qd2+ 3. Qc2 Nc4+ 4. Kb1 or Kb3 Qxc2 5. Kxc2 Rxa1, leading to a variation equal to yours materially. The only way to avoid this is to accept perpetual check by moving 3. Kb1. I used alpha-beta pruning lol.

The discussion started with the first comment in this post, the guy asked what if kb2?

Im sorry billebrook, maybe it is a matter of language, but to me, it is the same...
I think he is asking " why does the king moves to c2 and not to b2?,
Anyway, i have not found any execise where the first move is wrong, and is not the case here neither, Kb2 is the best for white.
