Ridiculous puzzle
The 'correct' answer makes no sense - why would you sacrifice your queen like that for no advantage at the beginning of a game?

Ah, the hazards of bringing the queen out too early. My guess is that if the queen is not sacrificed, bad things happen to white. Very bad things.

f2 is in too much danger here. White has to give up the queen in order to save any kind of structure. If white gives away f2 then his position is lost. His king would be in the middle of the board with no protection and no active minor pieces, while black would have great position, boasting the monster knight on e4. Giving up the queen gives white a chance. Otherwise, black would crush white.
What about 2.Qxc5? This looks better to me. Black would have to give up too much to take f2, so 2. . . . Nxc5 and white looks like he has better chances to control some space.
