Why would king move to c5 instead of queen to g4?

I guess:
1. Kc4 Rg4
2. Qd4 Rxd4+
3. cxd4 Qxe2+

or one of the other variations. Not sure though - I'm not that strong and I wouldn't be sure which of these would be better.

If Qxg4 then Black has mate with Qd5.
