try for stalemate
For black after Kf6 Kg8 offers a chance for White to overplay his hand and blunder in to a stalemate.

Not really. After 2.Kf6 Kg8 3.Ke7 the f pawn will queen while Black's King is forced to move back and forth from g8 to h8.
