Different solutions possible, or not?

What about: 3......., Kf3 and after that the g-pawn for promotion on the 7th move? That would be as good as this solution in my opinion.... Who can tell me why the given 3...., h3 is better ???

I guess not

I was thinking the same thing, but the computer came up with

3. Kxd5 Kf3
4. c4 g4
5. c5 g3
6. cxb6 g2
7. b7 g1=Q
8. b8=Q

Then I tried playing with White using the same play as above, and the computer has

3. Kxd5 h5
4. c4 h4
5. c5 h3
6. cxb6 h2
7. b7 h1=Q+
8. Kd6 Qxb7

So it looks like the solution is the best.

Yes, I understand. It's because black is checking the white K at move 7. That's the difference. Good idea to use the computer for this.
