why not 6. ... Bg5?
After which 7. Nf5+ Kf6 is not checkmate anymore. What is white's 7th move in this case?

After 6. ...Bf5 follows 7. Nf5+ Kf6 8. g7 and g8(Q) (earlier than black pawn).
