CHESS TACTICS #70555
Why does Black Queen not play

2. ... Qb1+ ? which gives Black more options?

Looks like 2....Qb1+ just delays the inevitable. Do you see anything that will prevent White's mating threat once the checks stop?

Black has a chance?
Yes Larry

Something like this:

1. ... Qxb2
2. Qh6 Qb1+
3. Kf2 Qxc2+
4. Kg3 Qxd3+
5. Kh4 Qh3+
6. Kg5 Qg4#

PS - I like your dragonfly - good shot!

Hi Jeff. Glad you like the picture; it came out pretty good.

Following your moves, White has a better fifth move -- Bf3 which blocks the check and I think that's it for Black. (Also, 5. Kh4 Qh3+ loses the queen after 6. gxf3)

You're right, bomber. 5.Kh4 is no good. I think 5.Bf3 holds, though, since Black is out of checks and will be mated on the next move no matter what Black does.

2.Qh6 Qb1+
3.Kf2 Qxc2+
4.Kg3 Qxd3+
5.Bf3
