So after Qe2 white plays g4?
That is called self-mate.

After Nb7 black can play g5 and checkmate follows.
But after Ne6, Qxe6, Kg2 checkmate is much further away.

Yes black wins, and Qe2 seems the best move.
But it is hardly the road to an immediate checkmate.

It just wins the Knight, but since black is already a Queen up, that is only a minor improvement.
