What's wrong with playing Nge5+ first?
I.e. the other horse. I don't see the difference, but was nonetheless incorrect?

I think because instead of dxe5, white plays Ke2 and then escapes via d2.

I really don't buy that... either knight(horse) ends up on the same square with the same implications.. the fork is coming set up by either piece

Ah, but it *does* matter. After 1. ... Nce5+ 2. Ke2, Black will not be able to play Qh5+ and force White's King to d2.
