It seems to me (also playied VS computer) that 2. Kd4 is a better move.

For me Kc4 is the right move.
Kd4 let Kd6 with the opposition

when the distance between two kings is odd ( here its one square between them ) and its your opponents move , you have the opposition. If anyone wants to read a good book on this type of example then i suggest reading "Chess Fundamentals " by Capablanca.
