c8=Q
Having a queen will stalemate the position on move #3 with no way to avoid it

Why?
Why would it be valid? It can only be valid if you can give us a mate in four starting with c8=Q. Please use Options → Another solution in the bottom right corner of the puzzle window to enter it.

hmmm...
There are no stupid questions only easy answers so they say....

But theres no way a 1700+ rated player should be asking that question having played through the problem.

Im no chess genius by any means, but I do always wonder how some of these "higher rated" players fare when they're not able to analyse the board at there leisure after every single move.No doubt one of the problems of correspondence chess.

c8=Q
If Bishop can do the work, then why not Queen. Having Queen will be more advantageous because it can define the game in its capacity and you will have more options to freeze the game sooner. We saw that Bishop was playing waiting steps.
