Description:Puzzle in Edward Lasker's chess books beautiful finish, sorry if its been done before, but here's nothing wrong with rekindling a great puzzle

Curious why this instance of the puzzle was used instead of #244. I wonder how many other duplicates are out there. The programmers have developed a routine that checks for duplicates but that feature must have come after this puzzle was created.

The routine probably compares initial positions. In puzzle #244 there is no pawn on h4.

In terms of problem chess this pawn on h4 really is a travesty (I know by now, nobody else on GK can be bothered much by it  )

Incidentals
Now I know what you mean by an unlimited number of variations of any given puzzle. I like puzzle #244 better as all it has are the bare necessities!
