Clever and funny ...
Yes, puzzles can be funny, and this one is: the white rook is trying all options on the 6th row to give mate on the 5th row, and white exhausts all possibilities to prevent that, in a rather desperate way

Underdog...
I like these underdog scenarios and find that every white piece is necessary to accomplish this "Mission Impossible!" The White Rook systematically forces black to block his own pieces. Very good exercise.

... but being checkmated by the knight on b7 might feel worse
