I like the puzzle but it wouldn't be in a game situation

I like this puzzles setup. You have to put every rook [and Queen] in the right position to start.

they're all just prudes. Yeah it's easy and illegal but so what, it demonstrates a tactic or two that appear in gameplay

The puzzle sucks
Illegal Position (the black pawns can not be in those positions) and the key move is a check !!!

Just because the position is illegal doesn't mean it sucks. It still demonstrates the weakness of a backrank. I liked the puzzle.

interesting little puzzle, but to be grammatically correct your comment should be rendered "An impossible puzzle" not "A impossible puzzle".

I like puzzles that are impossible because they are more complicated and have many "useless" pieces that distract you from the real solution.

although, I agree, this one was particularly easy

I apologize then
a stickler. My point still stands.

HA!
Great puzzle. My favorite part about it is that the author states it is impossible. Anyone with half a brain knows it is impossible; the point of reiterating it is moot.

Made me laugh.

This is obviously meant at a joke, and should be enjoyed as such. I'm glad it didn't come up in a real game; can you imagine how tired White's arm would get from stretching across the board?

Stop Yer Bellyachin'
Who cares if they illegal positions, if you don't like them don't do them.

Quote from GameKnot:

"Some chess puzzles are created from actual chess games played online, and some are purely composed chess problems, sometimes even with positions that cannot be reached in a real game of chess."

If GameKnot say that you can do it, you can do it.

And even the greatest composers sometimes create impossible positions for fun. Sam Loyd one composed a problem with a Black bishop on a8 and a Black pawn on b7. Think about it. When asked, "How did the bishop get to a8?", he replied "I put it there!"

maybe this puzzle itself would never happen, but if you got rid of a few pieces then it would be really possible

I am well aware of the meaning of all of those words and they are all in my vocabulary... I just don't usually take the time to use particularly precise or cogent language when I comment on puzzle threads.
P.S.- prude could apply in this context, with a previous knowledge of what is considered "proper" in chess, i.e. reachable positions.

Take away most of the garbage on the kingside, and it wouldn't be hard to come up with a legal mate-in-13 using the same theme:

And it could probably be extended further with some work.

One-ups-man-ship is like chess in the sense that it goes back and forth until someone gets sick of losing a resigns, but, unlike chess there is no merit in trying to prove you are the best at 'chess puzzle arguments'. I've lost my point...But you should just, you know, chill.   that's the best way to go.

Actually I just realised that the creator said "An impossible position  ". That is a bit embarrassing for me
