There are some variations (for exacmple in the french Tarrasch e4 e6 d4 d5 Nd2 c5 Nf3 Nc6 Lb5 Bd7 exd exd 0-0 Nxd4 Nxd4 cxd4 Re1+ Be7 Qa4) with quick attack on te black king and quick development of the bisschops thats keep the back king in the middle. Threatening to check on c7 with a knight can force black to defend with Rc8. Exchanging the pieces leaves black with the problem to defend everything and comes one tempo short (hoping that Nd3 could solve alle problems) with mate as result.
