Gameknot need to screen the front page puzzles
Surely someone needs to screen this, it is almost an advert for their site and this "puzzle" is not a good advert.
Fair play to chesskingdeluxe (no longer a member), it must have taken them quite a bit longer for them to make this than it has for any one to solve it.
This is not a puzzle, more of an demonstration of how not to make a puzzle.
Anyone get the feeling the feeling we are not happy about this "puzzle" (my son likes it though, he´s finished a puzzle).

Terminator Rook. Cleans everything in its path before giving the decisive blow. Very realistic.

So Easy...
a caveman can solve it, and that is probably insulting to cavemen. Still, about 3% failed to solve it...??? Wonder who those folks are?

Obviously it's very easy, but I liked it. One must remember that there are players of all levels in this site. Don't be so rude, please. If you want something harder and much less obvious, try the puzzles I've posted. Good luck.

I gave this puzzle negative 3 stars.

Even a zero star rating is too much.

What does it matter? - you can see he put thought into the placement of the black pieces, and the construction works. That's all you can possibly do in the puzzle section.

why so serious?
haha whats wrong people!? i'm sure all you CRYBABIES can find harder challenges about a million other places. is it really worth your time to be so negative and angry about a stupid little puzzle? i thought it was funny and a good break from the seriousness of chess.

Would skipping any of the sequence of useless interposing moves 'cook' the solution. as the mate in 6 would not happen as stated? it would be mate in three or four or whatever.

Easy for some, not for others
For some, this is a good puzzle.
Like macheide said, don't be so rude. I'll add, don't be so arrogant.

Easy puzzles
It's called an easy puzzle for a reason. It's ok to have an easy "easy puzzle" as far as I'm concerned. It's even called an easy puzzle. If you were expecting a hard puzzle, you should have chosen the daily "hard puzzle".

To those who complain about us complainers ...

One reason many people complain about the puzzle is that it is too easy.

Not just easy - but too easy.

It does not teach any tactics. It does not provide insight into understanding chess. It has no subtlety. I've seen some good 6 move easy puzzles, but this is not one of them.

too easy?
why does every puzzle need to teach? why can't they just be entertaining sometimes? after all, it's just a game! i'm sure others will agree, but it felt FUN to rip through all those pieces...how often do you get that chance in any real game??

Maybe not a puzzle, but funny...
I think this puzzle is just an easy and funny one. Maybe, it's not a puzzle at all, just something else...Today, I'm in a good mood, so I liked it !

I agree completely with blackmonkey. It was rather fun.

rich_sposato, I've said it before, but I'll say it again. It's called an easy puzzle for a reason. It doesn't have to be to hard. Easy puzzles are supposed to be easy.

blackmonkey, granted that not every puzzle teaches a tactic, and some can be entertaining. Some impossible puzzles (i.e. - can't occur in a real game) are quite entertaining, but I didn't find this particular puzzle entertaining either. If others did, then more power to them, but after looking over all the comments about how the puzzle is easy, stupid, or ugly, then it's clear that this puzzle is too easy and not entertaining for most people. I'll stick with the majority opinion on this one.

hcajg77, whether people call this too easy or just easy probably depends on their skill level. Maybe instead of rating puzzles from 1 to 5 stars (which is subjective since what I call 4 stars, some 2200 level player might call 2 stars), let's consider if GameKnot rated puzzles by the level of whomever solves them. Gameknot does that for tactics. A puzzle like this might get an 800 rating since the majority of 800 level players should be able to solve this one blindfolded. Another puzzle may deserve a 2100 level if it stumps most people less than 2100.

That way instead of seeing lots of complaints that the puzzle is stupid, too easy, or ugly, anybody over 800 would just skip it as not worth their time. If I could magically refactor GameKnot to rate puzzles by level, I'd only deal with puzzles rated 1500 or higher.

bad sample
rich_sposato, i don't think you can be able to tell what the majority opinion of this puzzle is just based on the comments of people who commented.

bad sample,
No but you can see by the star rating 97% of over 1500 attempts solved with less than three wrong moves and it is rated 1 star, I´m pretty sure there are very few 1 stars as that is an average and you cant vote less than 1
You can see Rich speaks sense on the rating and in this little gameknot community etc etc
