neat
After spending a couple minutes looking at ways of checking black and realizing there wasn't a solution it was apparent that the pawn push limited black to only a few moves all of which resulted in mate.

Enjoyable for a daily easy puzzle
Always better when the path isn't so clear.

c4 pawn
I first lookes at Qa5+, but saw that that didn't work. I then wondered why the pawn on c4 was there. I figured it had to be part of the solution, because otherwise why would it be there? Once I figured that out, it was easy. Easy "easy puzzles" aren't a problem though.

Enjoyed It
Yes, the extra pawn on C4 gives a hint. I also liked this one as depending on black's move, you are forced to under promote with a knight. pretty interesting.

Nice puzzle
Please tell me if I'm wrong but this is a nice example of zugzwang.

After moving the pawn, whatever the black moves its position becomes worse.

57% get this right, but it's only 2 stars?
I liked this puzzle, it took me a few moments to solve.

For a two-move puzzle, this was quite challenging. I gave it three stars, then looked at the average solve rate. 57% were able to solve this. That sounds pretty solidly Average, 3-star territory to me.

Regarding Zugzwang
A move is zugzwang if "black" could survive by doing nothing. In this case there is no mate in one if black didn't move, so for the purposes of the puzzle, yes it is zugzwang!

@royoetting and everyone else interested: Composed mate in two puzzles almost never begin with a check or capture. That's a good thing to know when solving.

Please, see the puzzles I have posted and then tell me if you find a correlation between the difficulty of the puzzles and the number of stars they have.

Compact..
Nice little pawn move puzzle that retains the waiting move principal..black courts his own disaster..

Very pretty
Easy only because there're so few pieces on the board. Very neat puzzle. Thank you!

to fezzik
only 57% got it right, and 43 % got it wrong and ask themselves how they could have missed it! this kind of puzzle seems really easy after you have seen the solution.

the average is very high here, on gameknot.

the fact that black doesn't have any immediate checks is a hint that the correct solution is likely to involve a non check move
