You should not fear the twomover; they cannot be solved at first glance, as you say, but if you are willing to put in a little effort of inspection, then all mysterious moves of the pieces will be disclosed in a restricted setting. i.e. you can try to make one imaginary move, then just go through all black moves and see if all of them lead to mate on the second move; no further insight about the position is needed.
