Nice - using the queen to blick the pawn   fooled me - I thought I had found an ALT.!

Good one!
This doesn't surprise me that less than 50% have solved it. It's quite a bit different from the usual check-check-mate patterns we see here.

I loved it!

2.5 Stars Difficulty. This really is a basic idea that everyone should know and be able to play in a real setting. But it is also more advanced thinking than is usually required here.

4 Stars Aesthetics. As a chess puzzle it isn't sublime, but as an educational position, it's first rate.

Great choice, kingdawar!

And, in the interest of obsessive completeness, Grandmaster Palatnik's patronymic is Alexandrovich. He's living in the US now.

Nuttin...
Easy to see the check in this game study..the rest plays itself with simple common sense not tactics or skill.....this is gm level play?...oh well...

Hmm ..
You're right, www.chessgames.com is how GM level play should ACTUALLY look like (behold the double queen sac!)
