a good composition. Solved by the mantra "try to imagine a position in which the king is checkmated"

all about position and timing!!
This puzzle is pretty hard. This is because you have to understand positional play. You have to understand that in this position your own pieces are in the way and you have to
maneuver them in such a way that you force black into zugzwang and not into stalemate because if your timing is off that's what will happen. Now what do I mean my own pieces are in the way? Well the first thing you will notice is that the white pawns move upwards and are kind of trapping my queen and bishop from getting at the black king since most of them are passed pawns. In fact freeing up the bishop and queen in time is key to solving this puzzle. Now if you look carefully you will also notice that blacks pawns move downward and most of the are passed pawns too except the c3 pawn which is also the only piece black can move. another important thing to notice is if the light square bishop wasn't there he could capture at f3. Now its not fairly difficult to realized that we need to somehow force black to capture at f3 so we can check him on the h3 to c8 diagonal and mate. but the light square bishop pins this pawn and black isn't even forced to capture if the bishop wasn't there in the first place. So lets force him to capture, but how? well black has the c3 pawn as the only pawn he can move. So lets block or capture this pawn and at the same time free up the g4 pawn to capture at f3. This looks impossible? because the white queen is in the way! so lets move it. I can't move it to e5 cause I will double the pin on the g4 pawn which we don't want. I can't move it to d3 because black responds with pawn to c2 and if i capture I stalemate or if I ignore it and play bishop to e4 unpinning the g4 pawn black isn't forced to capture on f3 cause he still has the black pawn on the c file which he simply promotes. I also can't play queen to c2 cause this causes stalemate immediately so the only correct move becomes queen to b1 black responds with pawn to c2 (forced) which i capture with the bishop unpinning the g4 pawn at the same time and forcing black to capture on f3 which I then respond with bishop to f5 mate. Looks simple if you have a good comprehension of positional play! Thanks for puzzle!
