First, I figured it would be an Indian (2.Bd2 Kd4 3.Bc3#, or 1.Rd8/2.Kd7, but the timing isn't quite there.

soo with Ra1 black has two options in the solution the pawn moves but if the king moves to d4 then the it takes 4 moves, with Bd2 as the first move it is definitly 3 move checkmate

After 1.Bd2 g6, White cannot mate in two; he either stalemates Black or lets the king escape. There is a mate in two after 1.Ra1 Kd4.

This puzzle actually isn't a copy of anything. This one has two more pawns than puzzle 3818. Gameknot does not allow for there to be duplicate puzzles.

By copy he means the solutions are identical, the extra two pawns have any bearing on the solution.

wow, what a puzzle. it s checkmate in 3 moves if king moves ...1Kd4 2e5 2...g6 3Rd1 mate.
