![]() Bobby Fischer usually opened e4 when he was White. Think Bobby Fischer didn't know how to make a decent White Open? |

![]() Spassky (Fischer's USSR opponent (and the USSR knows chess)) preferred d4 open as White. There is no other opening besides e4 or d4 to win if you are right. You got behind in your game because YOU opened Nf3 instead of e4 or d4. |

![]() Open as White either e4 or d4. Respond as Black (respectively) Sicilian, Caro-Kann, Alekhine, and Nimzo Attack or King's Indian Defense. All the rest are short of meeting the objective which is to WIN! |

![]() Against e4 open (when I am Black) I prefer Caro-Kann--but I will use Sicilian or Alekhine's on many occasions just for flair. I do open d4 on occasion. I do it because I know it from decades ago playing against my dad during the Spassky v Fischer games. I know Alekhine's and Caro-Kann from seminary (graduate school beyond college (4 year degree in pre-medicine) well beyond High School by 7 years) with extreme intellectuals around me. You are 14 and need to graduate High School, get into a University for a four year degree, and then get into a graduate school for a Masters or Doctorate or PH.D before you know what you are saying while playing chess here (over 32 games at once) and "managing" a team as a Captain of "Well Water" (which was your name before changing it to blitzboy or blitzkov). My guess is you know your computers and you can stay home schooled with your computers without proper interaction with others your age in a regular High School. What is that all about? |

![]() Check my records here. PS. Counto, get your head above your shoulders here. I am not saying Fischer never tried something else. I am saying he preferred e4 open as white. |

![]() John, counto was just giving his opinion. That's all, I think? No reason to say "get your head above your shoulders here" to him. |

![]() That is fine. Set up the game and you and William are together to prove me wrong about the N to King Bishop Three as your (both of you) open as White. It is also only fair that we play (all of us) with me as White to open. So make it two games where you both are White and you both are Black. Waiting for the challenge now..... |

I've ALWAYS opened e4 or d4 because that is always White's strongest open.
All the rest are history and I've played against others who (as White) opening otherwise.
It is a weak thing to do to open other than e4 or d4. History (Classically) has proven this over and over again.
If an opponent plays me and I am Black and he or she opens other than e4 or d4 then I have the game won and I know it.
Some sort of deviant invented Nf3 that is easily reduced to whatever is needed to win. It is easier to win against anything other than e4 or d4 open.
I prefer e4 open.
