Very nice
Seems easy, but you have to watch out for king's escape, then you bring it where he has to die.
To chess "beasts" in this one.

Marvellous ...
how Euwe found (or created) this mate in 5 in a real game! Not only quite a deep combination, but also beautiful and elegant. I love the pawn mate in this variation: 1. Qg8+ Kf6 2. Qh8+ Kg5 3. Qg7+ Kxh5 4. Bf7+ Qxf7 5. g4#

A classic finish to one of the great games!
Euwe sacrificed an entire rook for compensation that was based on intuition as much as calculation. This was a great win for Euwe. He was only .5 point behind the eventual tournament winner, Smyslov after this game. The winner of the Zurich Candidates' tournament went on to face Botvinnik. Euwe, who was already quite old, faded badly in the second half of the tournament and finished second from last.

But Euwe's great attacking skill is well worth remembering. The entire game is a gem that has made it into collections such as "The Mammoth Book of the World's Greatest Chess Games" (top 100), And "Garry Kasparov On My Great Predecessors".

Here's the complete game score. It's well worth studying!
