Subject: Ratings difference

Message:
Anybody ever notice the great discrepancy of ratings. On GK i'm 1778, on Chessnet Live I'm 1805 (playing mostly 15 min. games) So far, so good. On ICC, however, I'm lucky if I can break 1500 on occasion, playing blitz. Does this indicate I stink at blitz or that the calibre pool of ICC players is that much better or a combination of both? I guess this is one more indication, play to enjoy, and don't let the rating drive your play because it's all relative anyway.

I find my ICC rating...

is also much lower than my rating on other sites.

I think it just demonstrates that a rating system needs to be taken in the context of the pool of players.

It is also not unusual for a CC rating to be a few hundred points higher than a blitz or real time rating.

Or vice versa :-)

Correspondence chess, blitz and OTB (classical time controls) are completely different.
