Subject: Opening MISTAKES: common/specific aor TRAPS :Message: So any frequent mistakes you are seeing, Please post if you will. And I'd like to include any "Traps" anyone wants to share. Regards, Craig A.C. (While I wont declare all these certainly "lost", they certainly give the edge or more to the other player. Uh, and they probably ARE lost vs Kasparov, Anand or Kramnik. Probably even Leko! -grin- ... }8-) |
| ccmcacollister 5/25/2005 10:29:26 [ report this post ] | Some mistakes vs 1.e4 openings :Message: I've heard players state they believed this good for black with the idea that the Queen should not be moved early or it will be subject to harrassment. Often that's a good general rule. But not here. The queen is not weak; it is strong and centralized! In a position where BL does not have many minor pieces left to kick the Queen with. And a move like ...c5 to do it gains him nothing but a weak d5 square. Common moves here that work better: 4... (Bc5/Nf6/even Qf6 or Qh5 or even the somewhat passive but solid...d6) For EG after 4...Bc5 then if 5.Nc6 most common is bxc6 and to play for later ...d5 using the c6 jpawns support. But also 5.Nxc6 Qf6!? threatening 6....Qxf2 can recover then by 6....Qxc6. **** Center Game: For some reason Fritz has played this but its not good: 1.e4 e5 2.d4 d5 ? Trust me. **** REALLY BAD IS: 1.e4 e5 2.d4 f6 ? 3.dxe5 fxe5 ?? 4.Qh5+ and if Either 4...g6 or Ke7 5.Qxe5+ is just tooo painful for BL. *** Then there is Diamano's Opening: Some will keep playing it anyway, but its "difficult" for BL after 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 f6? 3. Nxe5! or even the natural 3.Bc4!? Trust me ******* A Trap: Sicilian Dragon 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cd4 4.Nd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 g6 6.f4 Bg7? (correct is Nc6 first here) 7.e5 dxe5 8.fxe5 now the Worst for BL is Ng4?? 9.Bb5+ and BL drops a piece, or a Queen with worst play. It continues either: 8....Ng4?? 9.Bb5+ Bd7 10.Qxg4! because the Bd7 is pinned and cannot recapture on g4. But even worse is: 8....Ng4 9.Bb5+ Kf8 ??? 10.Ne6+ ! fxe6 11.Qxd8+Kf7 12.o-o+ Bf6 13.Qxh8 and things are lookin BAD!! [:-) *********************** "Good Skill" Everyone ! |

However 6...Nxd5! 7.Bxd8 Bb4+! and White must give back the Q and Black is a knight for a pawn up. |

The quantity there is overwhelming. About your computer problem; I got there fine by pasting only this part: geocities.com/lifemasteraj/chess_traps.html My Explorer just puts in the " http:// " part automatically, and it took me there No Problem. Have you tried it without the http part. Nothing disappeared on mine. Regards, Craig A.C. |
