a 44-move game that lasted nearly a year. It was 14 days/move and I took most of that time while my opponent trounced me while moving quickly. I'm guessing that's nowhere near the record.

maximum number of games ..a different issue..but I had one of 102 moves before opponent finally agreed a draw after refusing offers starting around move 40

We finished game on Sep.01 2003 and we started it sometime in spring of 2002 :)

My longest in terms of number of moves was 80, which I achieved twice. Both times I lost, unfortunately.

it is weared -- softouch is premium member, but game no longer available!...
all i remember is that board number was around 78000, and yours is at about 336000.
it is quite possible that we started that game late fall of 2001. but it was for sure before Mike introduced 'started on ' to the board.
---
nevertheless to say -- softouch just got tired of waiting :)
i tried to do a long game with davism, but he timed out on second move -- toook us 4 months to get to his second move (he was playing white...) hehehe

apart from the board # it lasted 1,5 years, you said. Mine is ongoing and already 1 yr 5 mt old, and we're just in the early middlegame, so... :)
By the way, we're not deliberatley playing for a record: it happens because we're both very slow.

Just checked: I've played games with board # in the 78,000, around November 2001. So, your game lasted about 1 yr and 10 mts.

we did it deliberately to break the record, but softouch got tired of it :)
it is hard to go for record -- i tried with davism and he timed out... i guess he forgot it was his move after 4 months :)

but you go for record in a right and honest way, so good luck! too bad with ELO you won't be able to draw it at the end ;-)

My and kingofpawns' ongoing game board #363394, started 1yr 5mt ago, should be the oldest ongoing game.

My longest game went on for about a year when brunetti timed out! And that's probably the only way I'll ever win a game with him; although, I will say that the position was fairly equal IMHO.
