Subject: Game notation

Message:
How about some flexibility in the game notation system?

Introduction of the figurine-notation would be nice.

Or for those who's motherlanguage ain't English, the possibility to adjust the letters for the pieces (for ex. I speak dutch, so instead the "B" for Bishop it would be the "L" of Loper.)
It must be possible to make these changes possible in the personal preferences (so we can choose which letter stands for which piece), not?

language setting ok, but figurien?!?

Message:
English isn't my mother-tongue neither, but I don't mind having the English notation, since I have become used to it, only thing where I sometimes have problems with is, when someone is asking something in a forum concerning a certain position and is posting the position in the English annotation, because I'm still a bit more used to the German notation system, with L (Läufer) for the Bishops and B (Bauer) for the Pawns, that's how I sometimes get confused, but in the games or replaying the games it makes little difference to me, I think I would've more problems with the figurine-notation, if it was used here, because I really hate that kind of notation. ;)
So, language option would be nice, but please don't change the notation-system in general to figurine.

I, too

Message:
would prefer the current notation. Does´nt like the figurine-notation either. Language option, on the other hand, would be nice, IMO. Then everyone could choose for themselves.

figurine?

Message:
I prefer the current notation as that is the most popular. However, as it is different in other countries, perhaps there could be an option in personal preferences so it would only show up on your screen how you want it; figurine or other language.

current notation

Message:
The current notation should maintain when you watch a game from other chessplayers or also switch to your own settings.

Optional change would be nice...

Message:
I agree with PaulBerg; allow choice of figurine or alternate language as options for individuals. But personally I hate playing thru figurine notation. Would even prefer alternate language to that, once I got used to it, if I had to. Can't follow figurine as well or keep my place, without a postcard or something.

Another idea ?!

Message:
It just occurred to me it might be helpful being able to optionally choose use of numeric Notation, like ICCF uses for Int'l Corr play. To allow persons facing play in upcoming ICCF event(s) to use GK as helpful preparation to aclimatize to the change. Helping avoid notation errors when they switch-over. Also creating another convenience if GK ever played a match involving ICCF players aor rules. And any ICCF players joining GK would be able to use the Numeric familiar to them, as needed.
Numeric is just like Algebraic, except that Files are numbered, not lettered. Both use the same numbered Ranks. All are numbered sequentially.
So a1 square would be called "11". And a move from a1 to a8 would be called one of these. Either "1118" (I believe), or possibly "1181".
I cannot recall which it gives first, the Rank or File number. Can anyone say for sure, please?
Perhaps this is a luxury, compared to the Need for the language options, but would be nice to have, IMO.
